The new address for culture, art and life in İzmir, the İzmir Culture and Arts Factory, is waiting for you.
The 140-year-old Alsancak Tekel Factory, an important element of İzmir’s industrial heritage, is being brought back to life as the İzmir Culture and Arts Factory (İzmir Kültür Sanat Fabrikası) after extensive restoration and reconstruction completed through the intensive efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye.
The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory is a new meeting place for residents and visitors of all ages and a new generation culture and art center that will shape the cultural and artistic landscape of the city. The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory, which includes the Archaeology and Ethnography Museum, the İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum, the Atatürk Special Library, the Alsancak Public Library and the Turkic World Music Special Library, as well as cultural and art workshops, an open-air cinema, exhibition areas and a spacious green area, opened its doors to visitors in April 2023.

İzmir’s New Meeting Point
The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory, which combines history, culture and art, opened its doors to visitors. The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory, which brings together visitors of all ages with culture and art with its museums, cultural, art and living spaces, will be the new meeting point of the city.

Urban Heritage and Museums
The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory also houses two important museums that shed light on the history, social life, cultural heritage and artistic memory of the city and the region. The Archaeology and Ethnography Museum and the İzmir Painting and Sculpture Museum open their doors to visitors in the two largest buildings of the İzmir Culture and Arts Factory.
The museums offer their visitors a new and different museum experience with their thematic exhibitions designed according to the new generation museological approach that combines the traditional with the digital.
Libraries for Users of All Ages
The İzmir Culture and Arts Factory offers a unique library experience to all visitors, starting from the age group of 3-6, with the Alsancak Public Library, which has special sections and collections. The center also houses the largest Atatürk Special Library in the Aegean, where anyone researching Atatürk can easily access resources, as well as the Turkic World Music Special Library, which has an extensive collection.

With its 9,200 m² of landscaped area, the İzmir Culture and Arts Factory provides a new recreational space for all citizens, as well as local and foreign tourists visiting the city, to take a breath. In the garden, which is also suitable for outdoor activities, there is a place called Art Street where visitors can spend time with pleasure. By combining history, culture, art and nature, the center offers an active use space that breaks with the understanding of a classic cultural and art center.
